Railway System, Railway Efficiency, DEA.Abstract
Given the internationalization of trade, only markets with efficient transport infrastructure can compete globally, and the railways are an important link in this chain. In this context, the research general objective is to analyze the efficiency of the Brazilian concessionaires rail network, from 2009 to 2013. This research is classified as descriptive, with a qualitative approach and conducted through a desk study using secondary data. We use the statistical analysis of instrument Data Envelopment Analysis - DEA in order to verify the efficiency of eleven Brazilian railway companies. In this analysis are used the following input variables: concession area, number of employees, personnel expenses, depreciation expenses, other expenses and total expenditure and net income is used as output. The survey results for the reporting period show that the efficiency levels vary, highlighting the ALLMN, MRS, EFPO and FNS.Downloads
