The development and compliance with the proposed guidelines in the environmental programs are fundamental to minimize the impacts generated by road maintenance works. Therefore, the objective of the research is to develop a Road Maintenance Environmental Performance Index. The index consists of 59 environmental indicators based on the constructivist multicriteria methodology. The indicators were divided into hierarchical groups and subgroups and judged according to the attractiveness measurement method by a category-based assessment technique. It was found that some criteria are specific to the location and reality of the interviewed experts; however the weights removal and redistribution can be done without changing the final result. It can be concluded that the index can be a versatile tool to assist the manager in setting goals and recognizing conditions that need improvement.Downloads
